Square in spite of themselves

With Carrés malgré eux – “Squares in spite of themselves”, the rule is how to make objects, shapes, materials fit to a square. Depending on their nature: paper, wood, canvas, metal, strings… this is achieved through appropriate transformations such as folding, cutting, shrinking, crumpling, bending…

Results may be aesthetic or ordinary, pretty or funny, sometimes amazing but square anyway!

It often creates a radical change in the “personality” of the materials even if their essence is not altered: the paper remains paper, iron and zinc remain Fe and Zn.
